Lake Bled - The Painting That Didn’t Feel Real
Lake Bled - The Painting That Didn’t Feel Real
Original Plein Air Painting by Robbie Allen
This painting was created on location at Lake Bled, Slovenia, during my recent journey painting across Europe.
After arriving exhausted from travel, I spent time exploring the lake alone before returning the next day to paint en plein air. What began as a quiet moment quickly turned into an unforgettable experience - strangers gathering behind me, conversations unfolding, and the landscape revealing itself in a way that felt almost unreal.
This piece captures that exact moment: the stillness of the water, the iconic island church, and the atmosphere that made the place feel suspended between reality and dream.
If you watched the video, this is the original painting created during that experience.
